We want to create a trustless scalable censorship-resistant anonymous yet verifiable voting system.

We assume that blockchain technology can be used to solve the problem of trust and censorship-resistance, whereas non-interactive zero knowledge proofs can be used to ensure anonymity while preserving the ability to verify the results.

The voting solution may be based on one of the existing blockchains, new blockchain or even a set of sidechains created for particular voting to mitigate the scalability issues.

We are looking forward to a description of a technical solution that will give answers to the following questions:

  1. Which blockchain should the voting system be based on?

  2. How does the voting start and end?

  3. How do the voters obtain the voting power?

  4. How do the voters cast their votes?

  5. How do the voters check that their votes have been counted correctly?

  6. How do the interested parties independently calculate/verify the voting results?

  7. How can the anonymity be preserved if needed?

  8. How scalable is the proposed solution?

  9. What are the expected costs of running a massive voting (10k - 100k - 1m - 10m voters)?

  10. What is the expected time frame for running a massive voting (10k - 100k - 1m - 10m voters)?

The result that we are waiting for:

The contestants need to write a short paper that answers the questions mentioned above, highlights the main specifications of the voting system and discusses possible advantages and disadvantages of the proposed solution.

  • 1st prize - $400
  • 3 x 2nd prizes - $200

Is the project closed without a winner? If so, is it possible to receive some feedback on the solutions?
